Denmark's Fiscal and Structural Policy Plan 2024

""

Denmark’s Fiscal and Structural Policy Plan replaces Denmark’s Convergence Program and Denmark’s National Reform Program and is prepared in compliance with the common fiscal rules in the EU. The economic framework described in the publication corresponds to the Economic Survey, August 2024, and the medium-term projection Updated 2030-projection: Basis for expenditure ceilings 2028, August 2024.

Following discussions with the European Commission, the Danish Ministry of Finance has revised Denmark’s Fiscal and Structural Policy Plan 2024, which was published in September 2024. These changes contribute, among other things, to enhancing the comparability of the plan with those of other member states. The revision has no impact on the planned fiscal policy or the framework for public finances.

The revised version includes the following changes:

  • Addition of an explanation of the technical information, which Denmark requested and received from the European Commission earlier this year (box 2.2). In the technical information, the Commission has indicated the maximum permissible reduction in the structural primary balance, based on the European Commission’s assessment. This is not binding for Denmark.

  •          Addition of a table providing an overview of Denmark’s investment needs in relation to the EU’s common priorities (table 3.1).

  •          Addition of Appendix B, which includes an alternative scenario assuming an unchanged fiscal policy (“no-fiscal-policy-change”).
