Ministry of Finance Behind Four New Reports on Economic Analysis of Green and Resilient Transitions

How can we best calculate the costs of climate challenges? What will it take for finance ministries around the world to become driving forces behind the green transition? These are some of the issues addressed in four new reports released last week and being presented today at the Forum on the Macroeconomics of Green and Resilient Transitions in Copenhagen.

Danish Ministry of Finance

The reports were prepared by a working group under the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action—a coalition of 98 Ministers of Finance worldwide.

The Danish Ministry of Finance has led the Coalition’s Helsinki Principle 4 working group and therefore played a key role in the creation of the reports.

For the first time ever, the reports survey finance ministries around the world on their analytical capabilities when it comes to handle the economic impacts of climate change and the green transition.

The findings show that finance ministries are committed to the green transition, but they also lack concrete tools and data to make the green transition a significant factor in their macroeconomic models.
