Central government financing requirements for 2024 and 2025

29-08-2024

The Economic Survey, August 2024, will be published on August 30. Some of the key figures in The Economic Survey contains market sensitive information. These figures are published ahead of The Economic Survey.

The estimates of the central government net and gross financing requirements for 2024 can be found in table 1 below. The gross financing requirement for 2024 has been revised to DKK 53 bn. in 2024 and DKK 132 bn. in 2025. The gross financing requirement is the sum of the net financing requirement, repayment of government debt, transactions in state funds, and purchases of social housing bonds.

The estimate of the gross financing requirement has been revised upwards by DKK 4 bn. compared to the estimate in The Economic Survey, May 2024. The revision can be attributed to an increase in the expected repayment of long term debt that is partially offset by a downwards revision of the expected net financ-ing requirement, see table 1.

The gross financing requirement is met by debt issuance or by drawing on the central government’s account at Danmarks Nationalbank.

The financing strategy is published by Danmarks Nationalbank on the website of the government debt management office
